A ride to Sukhna Lake with her father turned fatal for a two-and-a-half-year old girl, who succumbed to her injuries after their scooter was hit by a Chandigarh Transport Undertaking bus at Manimajra on Sunday afternoon.

Sanjay Goyal, a resident of Modern Housing Complex, was going with his daughter Kiki to Sukhna Lake to offer food to fish, when their scooter was hit by a 19-A route bus (CH01 G1 7121).

The incident took place around 12.30 pm near the liquor vend at the turn of the Motor Market towards Mansa Devi side. The police said according to eyewitnesses, the bus took a sharp turn and brushed with the scooter, making the child fell on the ground, after which she came under the rear wheels of the bus.

Goyal rushed her to the primary health centre Manimajra from where she was referred to PGI, but the PGI doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Goyal used to take his daughter to Sukhna Lake every Sunday to feed the fish. A case has been registered in Manimajra police station against the bus driver, Baljinder Singh.
