4 Kheda cops suspended to enable fair probe

Four officials of the Kheda police have been suspended in order to enable a fair investigation into the reports that the spurious liquor was supplied from Mehmedabad.

Four officials of the Kheda police have been suspended in order to enable a fair investigation into the reports that the spurious liquor was supplied from Mehmedabad. The suspended officials are sub-inspectors B R Chauhan and B R Patni,assistant sub-inspector Jetha Chauhan and constable Kanti Rathod.

District Superintendent of Police Himanshu Shukla told Newsline: “As the Ahmedabad Crime Branch officials have revealed that the hooch came from Mehmedabad,we felt their presence might affect the investigation. These officials are from the areas where the liquor was believed to be supplied.”

One of the officials was posted in Vachhvadi village where the brew was allegedly manufactured and supplied to the city by Vinod Dagdi,who is absconding.

The crime branch sleuths have claimed that Dagdi had supplied over 1,100 litres of hooch to Harishankar Kahar and Dadu Chhara,who distributed it in different parts of the city. According to the state police,7,613 people engaged in bootlegging have been rounded up since the tragedy occurred.
