The screening of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer My Name Is Khan remained peaceful on Saturday, with shows running in 49 theatres across the city. However,as the Shiv Sena has not officially called off the protests, the police intend to continue providing security to the theatres. Khans wife Gauri, also a co-producer of the film, visited INOX multiplex at Nariman Point with her daughter Suhana. Stating that the film has released all across the state, she added that she was overwhelmed by the response. What is better than saying Jai Maharashtra? We love Mumbai, and Shah Rukh is really excited. He will be coming to the cinemas on Sunday to meet his fans, she said. She also visited Metro cinema in south Mumbai and interacted with the audience there. Gauri was quick to rubbish speculation that the film was attracting crowds due to the controversy generated on the eve of its release. Meanwhile,in an editorial in Saamna, the Shiv Sena slammed Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. Is Ashok Chavan the Chief Minister of Maharashtra or the bodyguard of Shah Rukh Khan? If it is the latter,he should wear the uniform of a security guard, stand at the entrance of Khans bungalow Mannat and salute visitors. it said. Sena MP and executive editor of Saamna Sanjay Raut said. We have nothing more to say than what Balasaheb (Thackeray) has stated. You can draw your own conclusions. Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Ramrao Pawar said,Though so far,no untoward incident has taken place in my region with regard to the screening of the movie,we are not taking any chances and have still deployed police personnel at the various multiplexes where the movie is being screened. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) KMM Prasanna said,There were no protests of any kind or any other incidents on Saturday. However,we could not take any chances and deployed the same number of police personnel as on Friday. When asked how long the police planned to give security to the theatres which saw incidents of stone pelting and demonstrations on Friday,Prasanna said,We have not determined that yet. But we shall see the situation after two-three days and decide. Senior vice-president Devang Sampat from Cinemax said,Screenings and bookings are open all across the city and there have been no incidents so far. However, the police are still providing protection and we also have our own security personnel to screen movie goers.
