Ludhiana: Seizure of 49 tetra packs of condensed milk of a reputed company stored even after the date of expiry at a school canteen, in a raid conducted by a team of health department headed by Dr Yash Pal Mehta, assistant civil surgeon, has raised question on the quality of food being sold to the students at the school canteens.

The revelations came to the fore during a check-up drive conducted by a team of health department to verify the quality of food items stored at the canteen of Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sarabha Nagar, yesterday.

The team including food inspector Harjot Singh found that the canteen owner had stored the 49 packs of condensed milk even after the date of expiry was over, allegedly for sale.

Dr Mehta said,”If the owner had stored such items in the refrigerator even after the expiry date was over, it was clear that they were meant for sale,” he maintained. The team has sent the sample of the pack for testing in the laboratory.
