In a case of Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act, Ahmedabad Sessions Court has, recently, convicted five persons to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment while imposing fine of Rs 1 lakh each on them. In default of not paying the fine, the convicts have been ordered to undergo simple imprisonment for further six months. The five convicts were caught in possession of 42.5 kg of ganja by Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB). The five convicts have been identified as Mangalsingh Parihar, Ramesh Goswami, Anil Natwarlal, Jayanti Prajapati and Deepak Thakkar - all residents of Ahmedabad. According to public prosecutor Hansa Jain, the five were arrested in September 2009 from near CTM area in Ahmedabad by the DCB while acting on a tip-off.
