After receiving a number of complaints from residents, the Panchkula Municipal Corporation has decided to shift the dairies within the city to Barwala. A committee headed by the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) has earmarked fifty acres of land for these dairies.
Residents living in sectors close to these dairies have often complained of unhygienic conditions prevalent in the sectors because of the dairies.
“The proposal (to shift dairies) was being contemplated for long. Now, land has been identified in Kammi village, Barwala, for them,” acting MC president B B Singhal said. “These dairies were the main reason behind unhygienic conditions in surrounding areas.” Singhal added that a scientific way to dispose waste would be implemented at these dairies.
“Fifty acres of land has been identified for the purpose. And the proposal would be taken up in the MC House meeting on Monday for the final nod,” Singhal said. After that, he added, the process of land acquisition would start.
The MC will also table the proposal of double entry accounting system instead of the current single entry accounting system in the House meeting
“The double entry accounting system is gradually replacing the single entry accounting system for better transparency and minimising data entry errors,” Singhal said. “There has been a proposal by the state Government to adopt this system and the Panchkula MC would be the first to adopt it if an approval is given in the House meeting.”
The double-entry accounting system is a record-keeping method under which only one track — where the money comes from and where it goes — is monitored.
