A 52-year old resident of Patiala lost his life in an accident that took place in front of Kukrain Bhawan, Sector 35. The woman who hit him was also admitted in the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, and is in an unconscious state.
Sarita Ganju, a resident of Sector 24 was going from Sector 35 to Sector 36 and Kuldeep Singh was ahead of her on his motorcycle. Sarita hit Kuldeep and lost control of her car. While Kuldeep Singh rammed into a tree, Sarita's car upturned. Both the people were taken to the hospital by a PCR vehicle. Where Kuldeep was declared dead on arrival, Sarita is admitted in the hospital.
One of the on-lookers said, "Both the people were travelling at a reasonable speed". The police officials said that Sarita was identified as a resident of Sector 24. However they were not able to contact the family of Kuldeep Singh.
"From his motorcycle registration papers, we have found that Kuldeep Singh was a resident of Sannaur, Patiala. We are trying to look for contact with his family members. We may have to send some police officers to the address mentioned in his papers," said one of the police officials.
The police has registered a case against Sarita Ganju but are waiting for her to be able to give a statement before any arrests are made.
