Fifty-four-year-old Vilas Bengali from Sahkarnagar became city’s 93rd victim of H1N1 virus. He died at the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital.
So far, a total of 196 swine flu deaths have been registered in the state. Dr P S Awate, in-charge of the state nodal cell, said that there has been a dip in the number of cases. However, screening is under way.
Till now, 6.30 lakh people have been screened for swine flu symptoms in Pune district. On Tuesday, a total of 5,879 were screened and 450 people with symptoms of the H1N1 virus were given Tamiflu. At present, a total of 21 people are admitted to the ICU and six are on artificial ventilation.
Meanwhile, a video conference was held at Sassoon General hospital where experts from Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Atlanta, spoke on the clinical aspects of the virus.
