Over 5,000 trees were planted on 15 acres of Shivneri camp land in Aundh during the recently concluded Shivneri green drive, a joint effort by Shivneri brigade and Tata Motors.
The green drive, launched on July 16, was inaugurated by Brigadier S G Balutagi, Commander Shivneri Brigade, Col P S Here, Commanding Officer, 17 Rajputana Rifles (Shivneri), R Bhaskar, Plant head CVBU Pune, Tata Motors, M B Kulkarni, senior general manager, CC&E Div, Prashant Ahir, general manager HR CVBU Pune, Atul Revanikar, general manager (Auto Production). In phase-I around 510 trees were planted.
Around 500 trees were planted in phase-II on July 18, while 4,490 trees were planted in phase-III on July 30 and August 6. Bapu Pingle, assistant general manager HR, CVBU Pune, Tata Motors, Major Saurabh Sharma, Vivek Dhadphale of Modern School, T V Rathore of ITI, Aundh, were also present on the occasion. Tata Motor's officials, 150 volunteers of Tata Motors, 106 enthusiastic students of ITI, Aundh, 231 students and staff of Modern High school Nigdi, Tata Motor's Yamuna Nagar community development centre and soldiers of 17 Rajputana Rifles of Shivneri Brigade supported the drive. Trees, including fruit bearing trees, shady trees, ornamental and herbal trees were planted in this drive.
Speaking on the occasion, R Bhaskar said, this joint effort by men in uniform, Tata Motors, and students paves a new path of co-operation to achieve a clean, green and healthy environment in the city and will inspire others to promote the pro-environment activities.
