A 55-year-old man was allegedly murdered with a sharp tool by an unidentified person at his residence in Maninagar area in Ahmedabad early Saturday morning.
The deceased, Hiralal Valecha, was a divorcee and was staying independently. He had a jewellery shop in Manek Chowk, said police.
Inspector D B Raulji,who is investigating the case, said: “He was murdered at night by some unidentified person. Since he stayed away from his family, his kin do not suspect anybody and claim that they were not even aware of his murder until the information reached them. The person is believed to be a homosexual and the killer could be one with whom he had sexual relations.”
The officer said further investigations are on.
The deceased’s body was sent to the Civil Hospital for postmortem. The police have registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
