




Till Saturday, four lakh pilgrims had visited the holy lake and nearly 75,000 people visited the lake on Sunday. Additional District Magistrate, Bharmaur, Naresh Kumar Lath said the unofficial figures of pilgrims could be more.
It is learnt that the lake had partially frozen due to sub-zero temperatures.
The HP Mountaineering Institute had set up a camp at Gauri Kund for the pilgrims. Besides, the administration had also made arrangements for a helicopter service that was operated by a private company from Bharmaur to Gauri Kund.
Giving details of the casualties during the yatra, Additional Superintendent of Police, Chamba, Devinder Chaudhary said six pilgrims died during the period of the yatra. Chaudhary said that while Ajeet Singh of Bassi village in Kangra district had died due to a heart attack yesterday, Vijay Kumar of Dina Nagar in Gurdaspur district died on September 6.
Parkash Chand of Jwali in Kangra district died in an accident on August 23 and Kulbhushan Kumar of Surjera village in Una district died due to a heart attack on August 21.
