6 scripts from India sent to Venice film festival
NFDC is gearing up for its fifth year of Film Baazar and has invited entries for new scripts/films.
In a bid to promote Indian cinema abroad,the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has sent scripts of six writers to the ongoing Venice International Film Festival (VIFF).
NFDC’s Film Bazaar project serves as a platform for the Indian film industry to connect with international partners and reach out to world cinema markets and audiences.
The scripts that will be promoted at VIFF,which will conclude on September 10,are ‘Toxic City’ (Aliya Curmally),’Girls’ (Megha Ramaswamy),’Dabba’ (Ritesh Batra),’Sebastian Wants to Remember’ (Vasant Nath),’Dear Mira’ (Deepti Datt),and ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ (Sharat Katariya), said NFDC Managing Director Nina Lath Gupta.
In the recent past,Film Bazaar has supported various award-winning films like ‘I Am Kalam’,Onir’s ‘I Am’,Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Love Sex Aur Dhoka’ and Anurag Kashyap’s ‘That Girl In Yellow Boots’.
Six filmmakers,Kashyap,Banerjee,Anusha Rizvi,Laxmikant Shetgaonkar,Sekhar Kammula and Haobam Paban Kumar were promoted in Cannes 2011, said Gupta.
Meanwhile,as NFDC,a Central Government agency,is gearing up for its fifth year of Film Baazar,it has invited entries for new scripts/films. The Film Baazar has two distinct segments – the Co-production Market and Work in Progress Lab under which film makers can send their entries.
The Film Bazaar selection committee will screen the applications and select ten projects for co-production.
Film Bazaar also proposes to set up digital theaters this year. In addition,there will be a new initiative to introduce the latest,unseen films in Indian cinema through market presentations, she added.
