A sixty-year old man died of dengue here on Saturday. The victim has been identified as Surjan Singh, a resident of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar of Ward No 15.
“My father was suffering from fever for the last four days,” said Prem Singh, the victim’s son.
Prem Singh said, “We took treatment from a local doctor for the first two days. Later, we shifted to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, as his condition worsened.” “After two days’ treatment at Patiala, my father died there.”
A municipal councillor belonging to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) from ward no. 5, Lakhbir Singh Kalalmajra also suffered from dengue. He was admitted in DMC hospital, and was discharged later.
More than 100 patients from the town are suffering from dengue. The worst-affected area is new Modal Town at Amloh road, where more than 50 patients suffered from the disease.
