Ahmedabad, September 16: A Document on the investigations in the 7/11 serial train blasts in Mumbai, which the Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) officials had recovered from a well inside the Sidi Saiyed mosque complex near Lal Darwaja here on September 1, along with other incriminating literature, was originally prepared by one of the accused of the Mumbai 7/11 blasts in Hindi. It was later translated into Gujarati by Usman Agarbattiwala, an accused of the July 26 Ahmedabad serial blasts.

Joint Commissioner of Police, DCB, Ashish Bhatia, said, “It was originally prepared by one of the accused of Mumbai 7/11 serial blasts and a SIMI leader of Maharashtra, Ehtesham Siddiqui, during his stay in Arthur Road Jail after his arrest in the 7/11 Terror strike. He had provided the same to SIMI hardline leader Safdar Nagori.”

Bhatia added that it wasn’t clear how Siddiqui conveyed the details of the document to Nagori, who, in turn, circulated it among SIMI cadre here. A DCB official said that Usman Agarbattiwala had got the copy of the material, translated it into Gujarati, and circulated it among SIMI members here.

Acting on a tip-off, DCB officials had recovered a plastic bag from the well inside the mosque. The bag contained a register having details of police investigation in the 7/11 Mumbai blasts in Gujarati, a training manual for terror camps across the country, and police interrogation techniques, including details pertaining to narco analysis test.

According to DCB officials, the document carries details about the manner in which the Mumbai police investigated the case, and how they interrogated the accused.

“The information came to light during the interrogation of the accused in the case,” Bhatia added.
