Israelis, already familiar with the threat of attack, are coming to grips with new vulnerability as at least seven Israeli families prepare to bury loved ones slain in Mumbai. Israel’s Foreign Ministry says nine people were killed in the course of an attack on a Jewish center in Mumbai. Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said on Saturday that all are Jews and at least seven are Israeli citizens. The attack was part of a spectacular 10-point assault on symbols of luxury and appeal to foreigners. Indian commandos stormed the besieged building after 36 hours, but none of the hostages was found alive. Two of the victims were a rabbi and his wife who ran the center. The others were visitors drawn by the hope of finding a touch of home, like many Jews and Israelis who travel abroad.
