The Bandra police on Monday arrested seven persons in connection with the assault and rioting at Lilavati Hospital on Friday morning. Niket Mehta,a trustee of the Lilavati trust,was assaulted allegedly at the behest of another trustee Chetan Mehta,said the police. A police officerl of the Bandra police station said,We conducted enquiries to trace the identities and whereabouts of the attackers. So far,we have managed to arrest seven of them and are on the lookout for the rest. The arrested have been identified as Sanjay Sawant (42),Prakash Naik (52),Krishna Gawde (28),Sundar Chauhan (40),R Murugan Babu (31),Bhau More (45) and Milind Sawant (39). All the seven have been charged with rioting and assault. The police are further verifying weather the accused were connected with Chetan Mehta or if he is involved in the attack. Police said there is a dispute between Niket Mehta and other members of the family over the position of trustee. On Friday morning,Chetan Mehta,a trustee,had come to the hospital to visit Vijay Mehta,the father of Niket,who was admitted in the ICU due to failing health. However,Niket allegedly refused him permission to meet Vijay. On the same day,as many as 12-15 men came to the hospital and assaulted Niket.
