Over 70 per cent of the total 1,59,343 voters in Dera Bassi Assembly segment (Dera Bassi, Zirakpur and Lalru) exercised their franchise on Thursday to elect its parliamentarian from Patiala Lok Sabha constituency. Polling went off peacefully with no untoward incident being reported.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Puneet Goyal told Newsline that the entire Assembly segment was divided into 14 sectors.

The entire Mohali district administration camped in Dera Bassi, the only Assembly segment in Mohali district that went to polls today.

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh Mand and Senior Superintendent of Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh personally supervised the entire polling exercise. A company of Para Military Force (PMF), comprising 90 personnel, and 785 Punjab Police officers were stationed in the constituency to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling.
