With nine candidates filing their papers on Wednesday, a total of eighteen candidatures, including Independents, have been received from four assembly constituencies in the district.
BJP candidate Anil Vij filed his nomination papers from the Ambala Cantonment assembly while Umrao Singh filed papers as a candidate of National Lok Dal (Ajit) party from Ambala City.
Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) candidate Rajbir filed his papers from Mullana assembly (reserved) while Rajesh Kumar applied as an Independent candidate. From Naraingarh constituency, Ram Singh filed his papers from the INLD party with his wife Karnail Kaur as the covering candidate. Jagmal Singh and Sanjay Singh filed their candidatures as Independents.
The last date for filing nominations is September 25 while the scrutiny will be held a day later. According to the Congress spokesperson, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will remain present at the time of filing of nomination papers by Congress candidates — former Union Minister Vinod Sharma and former Haryana Minister Nirmal Singh from Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment assembly constituencies, respectively. The CM will be accompanied by HPCC President Phool Chand Mullana, who filed his papers from the Mullana constituency.
