In a joint operation, officials from the of Andhra Pradesh CID and the Mumbai Police Enforcement Branch rescued from Mumbai 20 young women who were forced into flesh trade. The operation was conducted at Pula Street in Mumbai.

A special team of the West Godavari district police undertook an inter-state anti-human trafficking rescue operation in Mumbai last week and rescued 18 young women from Andhra Pradesh and two girls from West Bengal from the sex den and arrested eight traffickers, police said today.

A complaint had been filed by a man at Koyyalagudem police station that his 19-year-old daughter and a married woman from Koyyalagudem village had been taken by prime accused B Sayamma to Hyderabad with a promise that they would find them jobs. The complainant alleged the girls had been sold to a man named Murthy in Mumbai.

The rescued women informed the police about more in Mumbai, after which a special team was formed and arrested eight traffickers.
