  • If the women’s team qualifies for Beijing, coach MK Kaushik could become only the third Olympic gold winner to coach a team at the Olympics, after Balkishan Singh and Vasudevan Baskaran. Kaushik, a member of the 1980 gold-winning squad, says it would be a great feeling to be back at the Olympics. “I can’t explain what it would be like. I have been a player there, now I will be a coach,” he said before the squad’s departure to Kazan, Russia, for the final Olympic qualifier. “All I want is for this squad to play to their potential, and they will make it. For a coach, there is no bigger gift than his team’s victory.”
