Man held for duping IIT aspirants

NEW DELHI: A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly posing as the vice-president of Microsoft Corp and cheating several aspirants by promising them admission in IITs in exchange for money. The accused, Vijay Kumar, was apprehended from Najafgarh after a complaint was filed by one Rajiv Ranjan Kumar that he was cheated of Rs 3.11 lakh by the accused.

Three arrested for robberies, auto thefts.

NEW DELHI: Three men were arrested from Outer Delhi’s Bawana on Thursday for their alleged involvement in six robberies and vehicle thefts. A countrymade pistol, two live cartridges, a knife and 10 stolen motorcycles were recovered from them. The accused were identified as Deepak (21), Pradeep (22) and Pawan (24).

Bomb hoax panic at IGI airport, man held

New Delhi: Panic was triggered at the IGI airport on Friday afternoon after a caller claimed militants were onboard a Lucknow-Delhi Indigo flight that was about to land. The call was later declared a hoax after thorough checks. Raj Bajaj, who allegedly made the call, was apprehended. The police said the accused was running late for his flight to Hyderabad and made the hoax call to delay it. The flight was to go to Hyderabad from Delhi. Bajaj, however, has expressed ignorance about the call.

Depressed over illness, Sehwag kin hangs self

New Delhi: A 72-year-old man, an uncle of cricketer Virender Sehwag, allegedly committed suicide in his residence in South-west Delhi. He was reportedly depressed due to a prolonged illness, the police said. Bhagat Singh was found hanging at his residence in Laxmi Garden in Najafgarh on Tuesday night by his son. Singh, who had kidney-related problems, was apparently depressed. He left no suicide note. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
