A burglary was reported from the residence of Pradeep Chaturvedi,Joint Director of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat,in the early hours of Thursday,police said. The assailants decamped with cash and jewellery amounting to lakhs of rupees.

Burglars strike govt official’s house

NEW DELHI: A burglary was reported from the residence of Pradeep Chaturvedi,Joint Director of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat,in the early hours of Thursday,police said. The assailants decamped with cash and jewellery amounting to lakhs of rupees. According to police,the victim and his family were out on a religious trip to Shirdi when the incident occurred at his residence in Sitaram Apartments,IP Extension,around 1 am on Thursday. The incident was discovered by his brother and domestic help.

Man attacks Nigerian Embassy officer

NEW DELHI: A Nigerian national allegedly attacked an officer of the Nigerian Embassy with a stone outside the building in Chanakyapuri on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Iloagusi Collins.

Mohammed Hussein,the person who was attacked,was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for a medical examination. The guards apprehended Collins and informed the police. “It was a premeditated act. It seemed as if he was waiting outside to hit me,” Hussein said in a written complaint. A case has been registered against the man under appropriate Sections of the IPC.

Constable hit by vehicle,critical

NEW DELHI: A 42-year-old head constable was hit by a speeding car at GT Karnal road on Wednesday evening. The head constable,Jaipal,was travelling through Shangugaon road,towards Alipur police station,when a speeding car hit his motorcycle from behind — making him crash,police said. “A pedestrian called the PCR around 5 pm. We took him to a nearby hospital. He is in a critical condition,” a senior police officer said.
