Over 200 members of the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association, Modern Housing Complex, Manimajra, assembled at the community centre on Thursday to attend an expert talk on Ayurvedic remedies, popularly known as ‘Dadi Ma Ke Nuskhe’, by Raj Shukla of Jalandhar. Doctors and research scientists of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, were also present on the occasion endorsed the views prescribed by Shukla. A herbal medicine ‘kaffgone’, which was recently launched by a private pharmaceutical company, has been innovated by Shukla for which she has also been awarded by the Government of India.
During the talk, she suggested homemade prescriptions for treatment of burns, migraine, constipation, cough and cold and joint pains, which was highly appreciated by all.
She also advocated the use of giloi and ajwain for the prevention of swine flu.
Association president Amrit Dhingra, in his welcome speech, lauded the achievements of Shukla, who hails from the family of famous hakims.
Shukla and other research scientists were also felicitated on the occasion. Organising secretary S C Luthra presented a vote of thanks. The audience also enjoyed interactive games and a musical event presented by Ricky of Scorpion’s group.
Association secretary Colonel Gursewak Singh (Retd) said they planned to organise more such events for the benefit of senior citizens in the future.
