The BJP has taken strong exception to the statement of ADG,Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal,who said that prima facie loot was not the motive behind the murder of Hukum Singhs wife.
The ADG should wait for the investigation. By making such a statement,the ADG has tried to influence the investigation into the murder case, said state BJP president Surya Pratap Shahi.
The BJP leader said the expression of a conclusion by a senior police official in public will prompt the subordinate police officials to draw similar conclusions.
The insensitivity of the senior police official has greatly hurt the sentiments of party leaders who are mourning the death of the wife of their senior colleague, he said.
A condolence meeting was held at the state BJP office to mourn the death of Rewati Singh. The party also cancelled its two-day cadre training programmer which was scheduled to commence on Saturday. State BJP spokesman HN

Other parties also condemned the murder. Samajwadi Party said the incident is a true reflection of the law and order condition under the Bahujan Samaj Party rule in UP. Senior SP leader and leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly,Shivpal Singh Yadav,while expressing grief,said no one was safe in the state as the law and order machinery has collapsed.
Condemning the murder,UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said killings have become the order of the day in the state. Politicians and their family members are being targeted while the BSP-led government has remained a mute spectator,she said. Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tewari also condemned the murder.
