BSNL Club, Chandigarh Table Tennis Club claim titles

Chandigarh, October 31: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Club (BSNL) and Chandigarh Table Tennis Club clinched the men's and women's team titles in the 21st Chandigarh State Table Tennis Championship at the Sector 23 Table Tennis Hall on Friday.

Dev Saini won the decisive match by defeating Harish Kumar by 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 to steer BSNL Club towards 3-2 win over Audit Club in the men's category. In the opening match Dev Saini went down to Vikas Sharma by 11-8, 9-11, 8-11, 10-12. However, Manish Bhardwaj pulled back one for BSNL Club as he rallied to beat Harish Kumar by 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8. Mayank Kapoor gave BSNL the lead when he registered a 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 win over Amod Dixit. Vikas Sharma held his nerves and put Audit Club at par when he edged past Manish Bhardwaj by 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9.

In the women's category, Naina Suri defeated Bhawna by 11-9, 11-4, 9-11, 10-12, 12-10 to take Chandigarh Table Tennis Club towards a 3-2 win over Manav Mangal Coaching Centre after both the teams were locked at 2-2.

Aditya Pandey and Kayani, both of Manav Mangal School claimed the sub-junior boys' and girls' singles title. Aditya Pandey defeated Mayank Kapoor of DAV Public School, Sector 8 by 11-8, 11-6, 11-8, 11-8 in the final while Kalyani prevailed over Rajeshwari of Carmel Convent, Sector 9 by 11-3, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 15-17, 11-3.

Pareen Verma and Divakash, both of DAV Public School, Sector 8 won the cadet girls' and cadet boys' singles titles, respectively.
