The supporters of Baba Ramdev who gathered at Ramlila Maidan had stacked airguns,baseball bats and bricks behind the dais,police said on Tuesday.

Ramdev was to hold a 20-day yoga camp at Ramlila Maidan,Central Delhi,but was evicted after a day’s event on Sunday.

The FIR lodged by police said after the yoga camp took the shape of a rally,they decided to cancel the permission.

The FIR said: “After provocative speeches by Sadhvi Rithambhara,Maulana Kalbe Jabbar and Akali Dal’s Onkar Singh Randhawa that they decided to cancel the permission as they were asking more people to join the agitation and not leave the premises at any cost.”

It also said after Ramdev was given a notice that the permission for the camp has been cancelled,he continued to give provocative speeches and tried to dodge the police by asking his supporters to form a cordon around him.

The 10 persons,who had been arrested for attacking policemen and on charges of rioting,are out on bail.

Police took over the security provisions at Ramlila Maidan on June 3,only a day before the “yoga shivir” was to begin. They claimed,by then,Ramdev’s supporters had already hidden bats and bricks behind the stage,as the preparations for the camp began on May 28.

“During investigations we also recovered airguns from the premises apart from baseball bats and bricks. How they got them inside the grounds is a matter of investigation,” said a senior police officer.

Police said they have seized 40 close circuit television cameras from the grounds to analyse if more people were involved in the rioting.

“The 10 men who were arrested were detained at the spot,there are chances that others could be involved. We are analysing the CCTV footage to see who else was involved,” said the officer.

The FIR said,“Members and supporters of Bharat Swabhiman Trust acted in cahoots with each other to gather uncontrollable crowd and attacked the police as part of a pre-planned conspiracy.”

On May 28,when the Delhi Police noted that 800 toilets and a 40-bed hospital had been put up inside the premises,they grew suspicious and asked the organisers again for the number of people who were expected for teh camp. Ramdev had permission for only 4,000 to 5,000 people.

Police added as they were told only that many people would come,they allowed the event.

Health minister visits Raajbala in hospital

New Delhi: Two days after Raajbala Malik was brought to the GB Pant Hospital after sustaining critical injuries in the police crackdown on Baba Ramdev’s protest,health minister Dr. A.K. Walia visited Malik’s family members at the hospital. “He assured us that the staff of the hospital is doing its best to take care of my mother,” said Raajbala’s son Amit. But there is no improvement in her condition. Raajbala suffered spinal injuries,due to which doctors fear she will never walk again. Meanwhile,Sunil,24 who is admitted at LN Hospital is stable and recovering fast.
