After participating in the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week after a long hiatus, designer Ritu Beri is now looking to make her presence felt in what she’s always described as her second home, Paris. Beri will dress up Adishree Singh, 20, granddaughter of politician Dr Karan Singh for the annual debutantes’ ball Le Bal, organised by French society lady Ophelie Renouard, to be held at the Hotel de Crillion at the end of the month. Adishree studies design management in Parsons, New York, and will fly to Paris for the ball, a throwback to the European tradition of introducing eligible young ladies to society.

This year 24 girls aged between 18-20, from 12 different countries will be present, including Princess Fawzia Latifa of Egypt. Singh will be dressed in a turquoise gown with rich Indian embroidery. “It has the best of two traditions. The silhouette is classic western, while the embroidery is typically Indian,” says Beri. Is Prince Charming listening?

This bal will also have the grand daughter of Stanley HoBy: Stuart White | 25-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward According to Canadian government, US, and international news sources easily available on the internet, Mr. Ho is fabulously wealthy, and also supposedly having connections to Asian organized crime (triad). Given Organized crimes role in trafficking and other violence, I think it is somewhat inappropriate to honor his grand daughter as an invitee. I think the other participants should be more careful about who they wish to associate themselves with. Money is not everything. Ethics and morals count too.
