The ongoing spat between Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi and the ruling Marxists continued on Monday, with Gandhi shooting off a letter to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee explaining his impartiality in dealing with the political parties of the state.
The Governor also sent a separate note to Biman Bose, apprising the CPM state committee secretary of his letter to the Chief Minister and expressed hope that the party and the Left Front partners would share his concerns.
CPM sources said the party brass was now sure that the Governor would not step back from his stand. The matters came to a head when the Governor issued a statement on August 6 condemning political violence across the state, calling it a tandav. Bose admitted having received the letter. He has not made the letter public. I too do not want to make any comment, he said.
