Buoyed by a three-wicket haul by Bharat (3 for 10), Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology scored a five-wicket win over Kenway College, Abohar to storm into the finals of the Panjab University Inter-College Cricket Tournament (Men B-Division) being played at Panjab University grounds on Monday.
Batting first, Kenway College, Abohar were bundled out for a paltry total of 74 runs in 21.1 overs. Vishnu Kumar was the top scorer for the Abohar team as he played a knock of 24 runs.
Sukhjinder played a knock of 17 runs. For the Chandigarh side, Bharat was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed three wickets for ten runs while Prabhjot claimed three wickets for 12 runs.
Chasing an easy target of 75 runs, Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology reached the target for the loss of five wickets in 21.2 overs. Jagdeep was the highest scorer for the Chandigarh team as he played a knock of 21 runs. Sahil Luthra played a knock of 19 runs. For the losing side, Sukhjinder claimed two wickets for 25 runs while Surinder claimed two wickets for 26 runs.
In another semi-final match of the day, Gobindgarh Public College, Alour scored a 61-run win over Khalsa College, Gardhiwala. Batting first, Gobindgarh College Alour posted a total of 170 for 9 in the allotted 30 overs in the match.
Jasdeep was the highest scorer for the Alour team as he played a knock of 29 runs while Gagan Singh played a knock of 26 runs. Harinder Singh remained unbeaten on 26 runs. For Khalsa College, Jaspreet claimed two wickets for 35 runs. In reply, Khalsa College, Gardhiwala could score 109 for 7 in 16.1 overs.
