The College of Engineering Pune,that houses one of Indias oldest Boat Clubs,will host its annual boat festival The Regatta on March 21.
The 81st Regatta last year was well-received,a press note said. A movement against water pollution was initiated and supported by NGOs like Gomukh,Spandan,Center for Environmental Education,Jal Dindi Pratishthan,Janwani and Rashtriya Harit Sena . One year since the onset of the movement and the river cleaning project is bearing fruit. With visible decrease in the water waste,the students are encouraged to further their efforts in this direction. Keeping up with its motto of Clear Water,Clean Environment,Clear conscience,the 82 nd Regatta promises to take the message of water conservation to the masses through street plays,exhibitions and Jalmaitri.
The director of the college AD Sahasrabudhe said, This event was made possible by the team efforts and perseverance of the students,and it promises to be a success. To document the management,planning and the making of Regatta a documentary is being filmed which will be previewed at the event itself. The Managing Director of Tata Steel HM Nerurkar will be presiding as the Guest of Honor at the event.This year, new shows and performances are planned. The newer shows include the Firodiya Karandak winning performance of Fast painting,sand animation and wharf dance.
