‘Musharraf quizzed on Benazir’s killing’
ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf was quizzed last week by a UN panel probing the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto. Musharraf was interviewed by the UN commission of inquiry in New York shortly after the panel wrote to the Pakistan government saying it wanted to meet him. The interview lasted for two hours, Geo News channel quoted its sources as saying.
Pak SC disposes cases against Zardari
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Tuesday disposed off two cases involving President Asif Ali Zardari. One case pertained to the freezing of Zardari’s assets by the Lahore High Court in 1997. Zardari’s lawyers said this case had been settled under the National Reconciliation Ordinance, which granted Zardari immunity in graft cases. The other, was related to an appeal filed by the Sindh government challenging the transfer of a case related to the murder of former secretary Alam Balochfrom from an anti-terrorist court to a sessions court.
Secret talks with Iran on n-deal: Report
LONDON: Amid warning by the UN nuclear watchdog that Iran could be hiding multiple secret nuclear sites, UN and Iranian officials have been secretly engaged in negotiating a deal to permit Tehran to keep most of its nuclear programme and end sanctions in return for co-operation with IAEA inspectors, The Times reported on Tuesday. The pact was drawn in September by Mohamed ElBaradei, the Director General of the IAEA.
