The Chennai region has recorded an impressive pass percentage of 95.6 first time in 18 years in the All India Secondary School Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) results announced on Tuesday. The region covers Maharashtra,Tamil Nadu,Andhra Pradesh,Kerala,Karnataka,Madhya Pradesh,Goa,Puducherry,Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Daman and Diu. As many as 1,00,716 candidates have passed the examination in the Chennai region. Over 1,05,353 students had appeared for the exam in the region.
While Chennai has performed well,Maharashtra has been recording a dip in pass percentage for the past three years. This year,16,739 students appeared for the exam and a pass percentage of 97.92 has been recorded.
Girls scored over boys in the examination with a pass percentage of 98.19. Boys could achieve only a pass percentage of 97.41. There are 202 schools in the state. Maharashtra came in second after Kerala in the number of students who appeared for and passed the examination (98.35% and 97.92%) respectively.
Malad resident Kandarp Khandwala,a student of RN Poddar School,Santa Cruz,topped the examination with 98.6 % marks among the students in the city. I had expected to score as much I did. I studied for four to five hours before exams and completely relied on coaching given by my school. Now,I will appear for Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam (IIT JEE) and I have already started studying for it. Khandawalas father is an anesthetist and his mother is an Ayurvedic doctor.
Khandwala said unlike other students,he was never tensed while appearing for his exams. He has some valuable suggestions. You should not get tensed while appearing for exams. Sleep well and exercise regularly. Remember that this just one exam. There are many more and tougher exams in life ahead, he added.
