Mamata made this comment in response to a question during an interview to a private TV channel Saturday. Asked to comment on Pranabs remark on Friday that the Centre cant go beyond Constitution to bail out a particular state government,she said the Centre did something unconstitutional by helping the Marxist government stay in power.

I did not do anything unconstitutional by requesting for a special package. It was the PM who had promised me that. Other states have got it. I respect Pranab babu. He is a scholar. But I am a person from the streets. If asking for money to pay salaries to state government employees is unconstitutional,let it be so, she said.

A court in Antwerp passed the order initiating the formal process of bringing Choksi back to India. But, he still has options to challenge the order passed by the lower court.
