With Union Home Minister P Chidambaram suggesting that the heavy casualties among the CRPF in Maoist attacks had to do with the manner in which they were deployed by the Chhattisgarh Police, the two forces have started talks on ensuring greater coordination.

CRPF Director General Vikram Shrivastava and Chhattisgarh DGP Vishwaranjan gave a presentation of the new anti-Naxalite strategy before Chief Minister Raman Singh and Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar on Thursday evening. Sources said,a joint team of the CRPF and state police may launch pro-active action to flush out the Naxalites, starting with probably the Abujmarh area.

DG Shrivastava,Chhattisgarh Additional DGP (Naxal Operations) Ramniwas and IGP (Bastar Range) T J Longkumeer Friday visited the site of the June 29 Narayanpur encounter, where the CRPFs 39th battalion was targeted, killing 27 people.
