The Cabinet approved a proposal for conducting a feasibility study for constructing an expressway from Sanota Bridge at Greater Noida to Fatehpur via Kanpur. The government has nominated UP Industrial Development Authority as the nodal agency for conducting the study and other related issues.

LAND CEILING CASES

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for hiring more advocates for the speedy disposal of the pending cases of the agriculture land ceiling. A direction to this effect was recently given by the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. Currently,as many as 4,000 writ petitions are pending in the High Court.

Under the Land Ceiling Act,80,000 acres was declared surplus,of which 8,200 acres was allotted to the landless farmers and the poor sections of the society.

The allottees, however, failed to get the possession of the land as the original land owners obtained stay orders from the High Court against the state government order, declaring their land as surplus.
