Chidambaram summons family lawyer to Delhi

The Home Ministry seems to have taken note of the injustice meted out to Ruchika and her family.

The Home Ministry seems to have taken note of the injustice meted out to Ruchika and her family. For,the office of Home Minister P Chidambaram today contacted advocate Pankaj Bhardwaj to discuss the future of the case with him.

Bhardwaj, the counsel for Ruchika’s family who didn’t charge a penny for contesting the case, told The Indian Express that he received a call from the office of Home Minister today. “I have been asked to meet the Home Minister this week. They appreciated the effort put in to contest the case,” said Pankaj Bhardwaj. The lawyer also accused S P S Rathore for getting the inquest report “doctored”. A perusal of the inquest report reveals that Ruchika’s name was deliberately not written anywhere in the report. Instead of Ruchika her nick name “Ruby” was written in the inquest report. Moreover, the name of her father S C Girhotra was changed to Subhash Chand Khatri. “This was done at the behest of Rathore so that if any person gets hold of the inquest report he/she does not come to know that it pertains to Ruchika,” said Anand Prakash, father of Aradhana.

“I kept on insisting to the CBI that the post-mortem report had been doctored with but to no avail. Ruchika’s death was a mystery,” said advocate Bhardwaj. He added that father of Ruchika was forced to record statements on the dotted lines of the Haryana Police. “Rathore ensured that Girhotra does not give any statement which makes the death of Ruchika look like a suicide. Girhotra and his wife Veena were forced to make a statement that Ruchika died of consuming slimming pills. However, the post-mortem report clearly states that she died of consuming poison. Had Girhotra recorded a statement that Ruchika had consumed poison, the Haryana Police would have to register an FIR,” said Bhardwaj. “My daughter has died on account of consumption of medicines. No one is at fault in this matter,” reads the statement of Veena. On the other hand,Girhotra’s statement allegedly recorded under duress reads,“I do not suspect any foul play. She has died on account of excess drug consumption.”
