A student of Class VIII was reportedly raped by two of her classmates today. The crime took place in the ground of the Government College for Boys.

The Division Number 5 police have arrested one of the accused and registered a rape case. The hunt to nab the second accused is still on. According to information, the incident occurred this afternoon when the victim was coming back from her government school in the Civil Lines area after taking her exams. The police sources said the duo met the girl on the way. They enticed her and took her to an isolated area of the ground of the Government College for Boys where they raped her. Sources said that while one boy raped her, the other boy gagged her so that she could not raise an alarm.

After committing the crime, the duo fled from the spot after giving Rs 10 to the victim. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone. They left the girl in a critical condition as her private parts were bleeding and she could barely walk. Some students of the college spotted the girl with her tattered clothes. The girl was rushed to the Civil Hospital and the police were informed.

The Division number 5 SHO Shavinder Singh Dhillon told Newsline one accused has been arrested while the hunt to nab the second accused is on. He added that the medical examination had confirmed rape.

According to legal experts, as both the accused happen to be minors, their case will be tried by a special court meant for juveniles.
