The Congress on Friday disapproved of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Makens letter to young MPs asking them to oppose inclusion of caste in the Census.

No one who is sitting in responsible position in government should make such a statement. He should have avoided writing the letter, AICC media department chairman Janardan Dwivedi said here.

He said he had talked to Maken and the minister felt similarly. Dwivedi termed Makens views as his personal opinion. On Thursday,Maken had written a letter to 67 young MPs across party lines, urging them to oppose proposed caste census.

Meanwhile,Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav accused the Prime Minister of not including caste in census, alleging he was being pressurised by anti-Mandal forces.
