The state Congress will organise a rally at Mangalkot in Burdwan on August 9,nearly three weeks after eight party MLAs were attacked by alleged CPM cadres in the area. Manas Bhuniya, the leader of the Congress Legislature Party in the state Assembly, said the rally would be organised at Boichi village at 1 pm on August 9,where all senior state Congress functionaries will be present.
We will have a huge gathering from Burdwan and Murshidabad and other districts will also mark their presence at the gathering, said Bhuniya.
He alleged that no action against the SDPO of Katwa and the SP of Burdwan has been taken since the attack on Congress legislators on July 15.
Bhuniya said about 70 people have been killed in political violence from the Congress and Trinamool Congress ranks but the state government has not taken any steps to check the violence.
He said on August 12,Congress workers would go protest in all districts in front of the office of the district magistrates and in Kolkata in front of the offices of the deputy commissioners of police. On August 26,the Congress will organise a rally at Rani Rashmoni Avenue in Kolkata on the same issue.
