Cops hurt in stone pelting at Ambedkar rally

At least three policemen were injured in a stone pelting incident at the hospital chowk here during a rally to mark the birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar on Wednesday.

At least three policemen were injured in a stone pelting incident at the hospital chowk here during a rally to mark the birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar on Wednesday.

The police resorted to baton-charge and lobbed teargas shells to bring the situation under control. The rally was disrupted for an hour on a road between the Rajkot Civil Hospital Chowk and the Chaudhary High School.

The police said chaos was witnessed when some drunken men misbehaved with the people. When the police tried to stop them,they allegedly pelted stones on the police team,injuring three personnel.

The police claimed to have detained 15 people.
