The Bombay High Court on Thursday issued a showcause notice to the principal secretary of the Union Health Ministry for delaying the process of derecognising PG medical courses run by city-based College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPS).

The ministry is yet to issue a notification in this regard though it had accepted the recommendation of Medical Council of India (MCI) to withdraw recognition to some of the courses run by CPS. The ministry had sought two weeks time from the high court to issue the notification, however, on Thursday a division bench of Justice J N Patel and Justice Amjed Sayed was told that it is yet to be done. The court has issued a notice to the Union Health Ministry seeking explanation for the delay within two weeks.
