The Trinamool Congress on Thursday alleged that the CPM and the Maoists were holding meetings somewhere near the Jharkhand-Bengal border and planning to disrupt the upcoming polls. Trinamool leaders said that they are gathering information regarding Marxist-Maoist tie-up, which will be placed before Union home minister P Chidambaram.
Regarding Wednesday’s alleged attack on Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee while on her way to a rally in Arambagh, her party leaders said that it is reason enough for dissolution of the Bengal government.
“The CPM and Maoist leaders are holding meetings on Jharkhand-Bengal border. They are planning to disrupt the polls. We have information to this effect. We are also collecting information and evidences regarding the Marxist-Maoist tie-up, which we will submit to the Union Home Ministry,” said Sudip Bandopadhyay, TMC MP, in a press conference at Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence.
“The Union Home minister has already stated that Bengal has become a killing field. This is the right time for President’s Rule, with atrocities by the CPM crossing all limits,” Bandopadhyay added. Bandopadhyay said they are in constant touch with the Union Home Ministry over recurring and widespread violence in the state.
“We have already given him evidences regarding violence in the state and we are keeping him informed,” added Bandopadhyay.
Bandopadhyay alleged that Maoists and the CPM are the two faces of the same coin. “I would say that Marxists are even crossing the Maoists in terms of brutal violence on the people of Bengal and Trinamool supporters. Democracy is in jeopardy in Bengal,” said Bandopadhyay.
