The bullet, which killed gangster Prabjinder Singh alias Dimpy in Chandigarh two years ago, was fired from the same pistol that was recovered from Jaswinder Singh alias Rocky, an Uttar Pradesh-based gangster. Rocky was arrested in connection with the murder earlier this year. The Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) confirmed this, the Chandigarh Police said on Wednesday.
The US-made .45 bore pistol, which is issued to the soldiers of the US Army, was recovered from the possession of Rocky when he was arrested. He had allegedly given the sophisticated weapon to two shooters for eliminating Dimpy on July 7, 2006. The UT police had sent the pistol to the CFSL for examination.
“During interrogation, Rocky confessed to giving his pistol to two shooters who were assigned the task of eliminating Dimpy. He said the two gave it back to him after executing the task,” said a senior police officer.
