Reacting over the direct attack on Congress by social activist Anna Hazare, who had said that he will ask the people in the five election-bound states to defeat Congress if the Janlok Pal Bill was not passed in the Winter Session of the Parliament, former Union home minister and senior Congress leader Buta Singh has told Hazare should not indulge in such attacks on the party.

“I appreciate Anna’s move against corruption, but he should refrain from attacking the Congress in this manner,” said Singh, who was in Jalandhar on Wednesday to attend a function. He added that by giving such statements, Anna was just indulging in publicity stunt, as he wanted to stay in the news.

Singh, who has been active in the state for several months now and may be eyeing a Lok Sabha ticket from Punjab, said that Punjab should have a chief minister from a Dalit community, as it has a large Dalit population.
