Ralegan siddhi: Anna Hazare’s village organised a “palkhi festival” of their village deity Yadavbaba,in which over 5,000 people from 12 villages also participated, for their leader’s success. Srinagar: Moderate Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq praised Anna Hazare, describing him as an “old man” who has waged a war against corruption. Addressing a Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid,he said,“You must be knowing that this time an old man has waged a war against corruption, loot. If we talk about Jammu and Kashmir,on one hand we face repression,on the other hand we are not lagging behind in corruption.” Meanwhile, volunteers of J&K’s RTI Movement took out a rally in central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Maval farmers now turn to Anna

PUNE: Farmers of Maval, where three people were killed in police firing on August 9,have decided to approach Anna Hazare with their grievances. Balasaheb Pingle of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh said they would have liked to meet Hazare in New Delhi. “But since his fast in Delhi has assumed bigger dimension,we would wait for a fortnight. After that we would meet him wherever he is available,” he said. The farmers complain that the state government was not only bent on taking away their share of drinking and irrigation water, but was “planning to provide polluted water” to six lakh people, mainly farmers,of Maval region.
