
Engineering Expo 2008, a trade fair, was inaugurated by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioenr Asheesh Sharma and Krishna Tewari, executive vice president, Publishing, Infomedia 18 Limited in Pimpri.
Also present on the occasion were Uday Jadhav, deputy CEO, MIDC, Saurabh Shukla, MD, Phoenix Mecano, B K Bose, vice president, purchasing, Cummins, Neeraj Madhekar, zonal head, Emerging Cluster Group, ICICI Bank and senior journalist Senthil Chengalvarayan.
The expo serves as a platform for Indian and foreign companies to exhibit their products and services, interact with potential buyers and sellers, generate new incremental business and forge new partnerships The 3rd Edition Engineering Expo which spans over a period of four days - November 20-23 is expected to generate revenues above Rs 60 crore. Engineering Expo forayed into Pune two years back and evoked immense response. The last edition was held in December 2007 generated business worth Rs 45 crore.
Inaugurating the expo, Sharma said, "Engineering Expo is an opportunity and a platform for the engineering companies big and small to come together and showcase their innovation, explore new technologies and exchange ideas and meet business interests. I hope exhibitions like Engineering Expo come to Pune, which has grown rapidly and is an industrial hub."
Engineering Expo is an annual event held in Pune, Ahmedabad and Ludhiana to meet the business requirements of the engineering and technology sector, stated a release.
Krishna Tewari, executive vice president, publishing, Infomedia 18 Ltd, said, "Taking forward the success from the last expo, we expect this Expo to be even bigger in terms of exhibitors, revenue generated and the number of visitors. Pune is a fast growing industrial hub of the country and home to major industries."
