
In two separate accidents, two persons, including a former Delhi Police inspector, lost their lives in the Capital in last 24 hours.
In the first incident, a 70-year-old retired Delhi Police inspector died after being hit by a speeding motorcycle on Pankha Road in Janakpuri area of the West District on Friday morning. According to the police, the accident took place at 11 am.
Police said the deceased Jaipal was crossing the road when the speeding bike hit him. Jaipal, who received multiple injuries, was taken to the Deen Dayal Hospital by a few passers-by, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The body of the deceased was sent for a postmortem examination. Jaipal was a resident of Raghu Nagar and is survived by two sons. Police have arrested and registered a case against the bike-rider, identified as Arjun (30).
In the second incident, a 52-year-old man was crushed to death by a DTC bus in Mayur Vihar area of the East district on Thursday night. Police said that the incident took place around 9 pm near Trilok Puri. The victim, identified as Mewalal, was getting off the DTC Bus (plying between Noida and Dhaula Kuan) when the bus accelerated. Mewalal slipped and his head got crushed under the rear wheels of the bus, the police said.
