Five days after with CPI(Maoist) central committee member Azad Cherukuri Rajkumar, his family and friends are doing the rounds of major hospitals in the city to donate his organs,as per his wishes. However, they have not found any takers yet.

“Hem had told his wife and other family members that his organs should be donated to hospitals. But it seems that this wish will remain unfulfilled,” said his friend Bhupen Singh.

The body was brought to the Capital by Pandey’s wife,Babita, and other family members on Tuesday. They have already contacted both AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital. “They said the body is of no use as the death happened on July 1. They said the body must be in a bad shape as post-mortem has been done on it. We don’t know whether it’s a medical reason or some other reason,” said Singh.

While Pandey’s family members have maintained he “could not have been a Naxalite”,the CPI(Maoist) has said that he was a “zonal committee member in Uttarakhand”.
