Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday held a closed-door meeting with senior officials of the Jharkhand administration and the police on twin issues of development in the Naxal strongholds and to build an offensive against Naxalites in the state.
The meeting was held in two sessions; one with security officials,and another with civil officials,which was held in Raj Bhawan. After reviewing the internal security scenario,Chidambaram took stock of the development projects such as Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojna,Indira Awas and Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme being implemented by the state administration.
Chief Secretary A K Singh reportedly informed Chidambaram of several administrative bottlenecks,including poor strength of IAS officers and deputy collectors,affecting their functioning.
In his response,Chidambaram reportedly said that the administrative problems are theirs to solve,and that the government will help however possible.
