Fire at city textile factory,goods worth lakhs gutted

Goods and processing machinery of a textile factory worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in fire that broke out near Khodiyarnagar on BRTS Road in Behrampura area here on Wednesday afternoon. No death or injuries were reported,police said.

The fire was brought under control after one-and-half-hour struggle with the help of six fire fighting vehicles,said Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service officials.

Bodakdev fire station officer Mithun Mistry said the pinewood fuel first caught fire stocked near a factory,Ashirwad Textiles,due to excessive hot wind blowing from the river side coupled with high temperature in the factory boiler. At least three two-wheelers were also completely damaged in the fire,though the damage estimates were yet to be worked out.

The fire spread in no time,but thousands of residents in the hutments near the factory had a narrow escape,police said.
